With the new year coming up and thousands of people resolving to get fit, the Croydon Cycling Campaign has prepared a list of clubs and events to help you get under way.

Addiscombe: On Saturday November 3, Addiscombe Cycling Club had a record turn out of 40 riders for their monthly easy ride. Contact via website www.addiscombe.org

Saturday rides start at 9am at Coulsdon South BR station going through Surrey lanes to Charlwood (back for lunchtime). Sunday rides 9am same place - hilly rides to Westerham. Off road rides every Sunday 10am meet at East Croydon.

Sundays 9am from Purley Dump/Sharrocks Depot (can turn back at 11 am or carry on to lunch).

Dec 9: Meet Purley outside "Going Places"; easy to Effingham & Ardingly; club to Dorking & Faygate. Dec 16: Cyclists & Walkers Christmas Carol Service in Charlwood at 4pm. Ride starts 9am from Purley to Hemfold then on to Charlwood for service. Dec 30: Meet Shirley, easy & club ride same destination - Otford & Stone Street. Jan 6: Meet Purley; easy to Edenbridge & Cowden; club to Abinger & Wimland.

Greenwich Cyclists have taken over the velodrome for anyone who wants to learn to ride a fixed wheel no-brake track bike at 1-4pm on Sunday, January6.

A collection will cover the cost of hiring the velodrome, a trainer and the track bikes.
